1.) What is the TOEIC exam?
The TOEIC ( the Test of English for International Communication ) test measures non- native English speakers’ English language proficiency in an international office setting. Results from the TOEIC exam are relied on by corporations, government agencies, and learning institutions to assess the English skills of prospective and current employees.

2.) What is the format of the TOEIC exam?
The TOEIC exam is a two-hour, pencil and paper test, made up of 200 questions, divided into two sections.

Listening Section: This is made of 100 questions that are administered by audiocassette. This section takes approximately 45 minutes. It is further divided into the following parts:
           Part 1: Photographs (20 items)
           Part 2: Question-Response (30 items)
           Part 3: Short Conversations (30 items)
           Part 4: Short Talks (20 items)

Reading Section: This consists of 100 written questions. This section takes approximately 75 minutes. It is further separated into the following parts:

          
Part 1: Incomplete Sentences (40 items)
           Part 2: Error Recognition (20 items)
           Part 3: Reading Comprehension (40 items)


3.) What is the difference between the TOEIC test and the TOEFL test?
The TOEIC test was developed to provide the business, commerce and industry sectors with a reliable and accurate English Language proficiency gauge for prospective and current employees. The Test of English as a Foreign Language™ exam was designed to measure the English skills of Foreign students wishing to matriculate to colleges and universities in North America.

4.) What score do I need to pass the TOEIC test?
There is no passing mark for the exam. Scores reflect the examinee’s level of English proficiency. Companies base their required score on the English skills that the particular position or task needs.

5.) Who uses the TOEIC exam? And for what Purpose?
Personnel who are required to use English in their work environment take the TOEIC exam. They come from businesses, restaurants, hotels, and hospitals among others. They come from, but are not limited to, managerial, sales, and technical departments.

The following sectors utilize the TOEIC exam – Businesses, government agencies, schools, and English training programs.

Businesses and government agencies use TOEIC test scores to help them make important personnel decisions. This includes hiring, promoting and filling overseas assignments. More and more universities and institutions of higher learning are requiring their students to take the TOEIC exam before they graduate. 6.) What is the Cleverlearn TOEIC Preparation course?

Your computer should have a sound card and either speakers or headphones.

9.) Do I need special software?
You will need to have a Macromedia Flash Player.

10.) Which Internet browser do I need?
Your computer will need to have Internet Explorer 6.

11.) Should I follow a schedule for preparing for the TOEIC exam?
Yes. The more you practice, the better and more confident you will become. We recommend setting aside 20-30 minutes a day. You can divide the time within the day.

12.) Do I have to subscribe?
Yes, you must first subscribe, to enjoy the Cleverlearn TOEIC Preparation course. This will also give you access to your Your Cleverlearn Profile site. This is where you can change your security settings and account preferences.
